Peyton Manning said, I was never on a mission to
be an NFL quarterback. I wanted to be a good high
school player, and I worked hard at that. That
made me good enough to play in college and then I
wanted to be a good college quarterback. During
college I played well enough to make it into the
NFL. I never took it for granted and I really
wanted to play hard at each level and I have
always had a lot of fun doing what I wanted to
do.

Peyton Williams Manning was born on March 24,
1976, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was the
second of Archie and Olivia Mannings three sons.
Cooper, the oldest, arrived in 1974. Eli came
into the world five years after Peyton. All three
boys looked like athletes from the time they
could crawl. At 12-plus pounds at birth, Peyton
appeared he might be headed for a career as an
offensive lineman.

completed 3,468 of 5,405 passes for 41,626 yards
and 306 touchdowns for a 94.7 career passer
rating, Manning has completed more passes and
thrown for more yards and touchdowns in a
career-opening 10-year span than any NFL player.
