Title: Burst signal injections during S3

1
Burst signal injections during S3
  • The Burst group wishes to continue to inject
burst waveforms into DARM or ETMX/ETMY, just
    before, during, and after S3.
  • Test Event Trigger Generator sensitivity, time,
    frequency, amplitude resolution
  • Test that hardware and software injections
produce the same response in the burst detection
    pipeline calibration dependent!
  • Monitor the stability of the response of the
detectors/pipeline to bursts, as a function of
    time throughout the run.
  • Check the safety of veto channels.
  • Test correlation/coincidence techniques
  • Minimal need a crude swept-sine of
sine-Gaussians, as was done for S1 and S2.
  • The more injections, the better! Quantitative
    test of calibration.
  • Injections into DARM are fine further
interesting but not essential studies are enabled
by injecting into ETMX and ETMY in different
    strengths per the antenna pattern.

2
S2 Burst Hardware Injections
  • Short, narrow-bandwidth signals (sine-Gaussians),
    sweeping over detection band.
  • amplitudes span range from "barely detectable" to
"large, but not so large as to break lock".
  • The higher the statistics, the better!
