1
Acupuncture and cancer treatmentDescription of a
possible control mechanismand its use in cancer
treatment1. Part theoretical background,
control mechanisms in the west2. Part
theoretical background, control mechanisms in the
east3. Part practical control (treatment) in
cancer
  • Sanare A.S. - allowing the body to find the
    cure

2
Part 1 description of physiological control
mechanisms in western terminology.
  • The blood circulation controls activity of
    functions
  • The blood circulation and its direction are the
sum of all intra/inter-cellular biological and
    chemical reactions in the body.
  • The nervous system controls functions of the
    body
  • The nerves (metallic needles conduct ionic
    current) (Fu, 2000).
  • The brain (Futasaku, 1995).
  • The spirit of man controls several mechanisms
  • The effect of the INTENTION of the therapist on
the energetic body of the patient (Watkins 1996,
    Kohane and Tiller 2001).
  • Presence of controlling molecules
  • Endorphins, cytokines and other signalling
factors (Bucinskaite 1996, Yu et al 1998, Rogers
et al 1992, Zhou et al 1999).
  • Examples of the bio-physical result of nervous-
    molecular control
  • Marked elevation of NK-cell activity (Yu et al,
    1998).
  • Proliferation of T-lymhocytes (Kim et al,
    2001).
  • Activation of the complimentary system (Wong et
    al, 2001).
  • Vasodilatation (Loh et al 2002).

3
Different levels of control inhumans and animals.
  • Molecular control
  • Androgens, e.g. aldosteron, control cell cycle
transitions in the prostate. (Cinar et al, 2001)
  • Genetic control
  • siRNA Small intereferring RNA fragments control
gen expression in eukaryotic cells. (Lewis et al,
    2002)
  • Proteomic control
  • Proteolytic hydrolysis via caspase enzymes
control cell cycles by inducing apoptosis.
    (Miller, 1997).
  • Cellular control
  • Osteoblast cells regulate osteoclast formation
    through cell-to-cell contact with hemopoietic
    progenitor cells. (Udagawa, 2003).
  • Organic control ?

4
Uncontrolled conditions in humans and animals.
  • Molecular level
  • Carcinogenic compounds, as N-nitrosodiethanolamine
, induce cancer from the molecular level, by
forming 2-hydroxyethyl-DNA base adducts with DNA
    (Loeppky RN, Goelzer, 2002).
  • Genetic level
  • Mutations in the promoter element of the p53
gene are often found in cancer patients (Miller
    C, Koeffle, 1993).
  • Proteomic level
  • The Arg-249-Met mutation in the p53 protein
leads to uncontrolled cell-cycles, leading to
    cancer (Yang et al, 2000).
  • Cellular level
  • Human T-cell Leukaemia/Lymphotropic virus type 1
is a virus that induces cancer (Johnson et al,
    2001).
  • Organic level ?

5
Part 2 the theoretical basis for control
mechanismsControl mechanisms in eastern
terminology.
  • The Ko-cycle in the 5-element theory

6
Possible control patterns relating to the
elements - 1
  • 1) Too much salt hurts the Kidneys (Sanders,
    2004, Hillege et al. 2002).
  • Decreased Kidney-function may be used as a
prognostic element in heart failure (Hillege et
al. 2002, Anand IS, Florea, 2001).
  • Water-fire control?
  • 2) Minor and major heart arrythmia was found in
all patients with pulmonary diseases, of which 76
had lung cancer in the study performed by Vasic,
    1995.
  • There is a higher risk of pneumonia in patients
with cardiovascular diseases (Klare et al,
    2002).
  • Fire-metal control?
  • 3) Alcohol damages the liver (Vazquez and
    Pardo-Mindan, 1979, Song et al, 2004).
  • Confirmed correlation between breast cancer risk
and alcohol consumption (Tjønneland et al, 2003,
2004, Key et al, 2003, Singletary and Gapstur,
    2001)
  • The breasts are on the Stomach meridian.
  • Wood-earth control?

7
Possible control patterns relating to the
elements - 2
  • 4) Churg-Strauss syndrome, a lethal lung
    disease, shows correlation with severe
choleoystitis and gallbladder necrosis (Nishie et
    al, 2003).
  • Metal-wood control?

8
Part 3 practical use of control mechanisms in
treating cancer (especially of the mamma)BASED
ON ALL CASES (31) WITHIN A DEFINED PERIOD OF
TIME (march 2003 march 2004)
9
Control mechanisms in the eastern concept - 1
  • The Ko-cycle in the 5-element theory, the 5-star,
    practical use.

10
Control mechanisms in the eastern concept - 2
  • The Ko-cycle in the 5-element theory, the cross,
    practical use.

11
Illustration of the Stomach and Liver meridians
as an example
  • The Stomach-meridian is controlled by the
    Liver-meridian.

12
Mamma-cancer controlling point in Women
  • The very point that in my experience controls
    mamma-cancer is situated just here.
  • This point is situated on the Liver-meridian,
slightly more distal than LV03 (rationale will be
    discussed later)

13
Mamma-cancer controlling point in the Bitch
  • The very point that in my experience controls the
growth of the cancer in the mamma of the bitch is
    situated just here.
  • The point is situated a little distal of LV03,
    according to Thoresen (rationale later).

14
Therapy description
  • All patients with cancer-diagnosis within a
certain period of time were treated once a
    month
  • For mamma-cancer on the described point (a little
distal to LV03, on the breast-ECIWO-point).
  • For other types of cancer on a point at the
relevant meridian. The meridian was chosen as the
one controlling the cancerous area according to
the 5-element theory. The point was found at the
ECIWO-area related to where the first tumor did
    appear.
  • The diameter of the cancer was measured at each
    session
  • Statistics were made from
  • Species (woman/bitch or human/animal).
  • Diagnoses (benign/malign).
  • The development of the cancer (diameter).
  • Survival.

15
Results from treatment of unoperated
mamma-carcinoma (12 cases, 7 human 5 canine)
16
Results in all types of cancer (34 cases)
operated with metastases (5 cases), unoperated
(19 cases), and some benign (4 cases)
17
Explanation of how to find the correct point
  • The meridian chosen is the one controlling the
meridian on which the tumor is situated
  • The correct point is found on the meridian in the
area where it passes the metacarpal or the
metatarsal bone, according to the ECIWO-system
    residing here.

18

21
Some practical examples - 1
  • Seminoma the left testis is 7,5 cm in diameter
  • Male dog, Golden retriever, 15 years old.
  • LU11
  • The LV-meridian passes the testis
  • At the second session, the seminoma was reduced
    to 6,5 cm.

22
Some practical examples - 2
  • Cervical cancer diagnosed in 2002
  • Woman, 45 years old
  • TH02 (water-point on a hormonal fire-meridian)
  • Chosen partly to control the water-element,
partly because of several observations within
practise and philosophy (cervix is both fire,
    sex, and water, kidney)
  • Monthly sessions from 30. July 2002 to 16. July
2003, by then the cancer was not to be detected
    any more.

23
Some practical examples - 3
  • Mammary cancer aggressive
  • Woman, 42 years
  • LV03, ST Channel passes through the breast LV
    Controls ST.
  • After the last session the cancer was completely
    gone

24
Some practical examples - 4
  • Osteosarcoma 11cm2 (confirmed by biopsy)
  • dog, born 1994
  • HT09 left side, as the cancer was on LU Channel,
and as HT controls LU, I used HT09.
  • After the 5. Treatment the growth had
disappeared there was only a piece of dry skin
    left at the spot.

25
Some practical examples - 5
  • Perianal cancers multiple
  • dog, Chihuahua, born 1999
  • CV 23 was used, as the tumour appeared on the
dorsal midline (GV) therefore I treated the
    opposite midline (CV).
  • After the first treatments the cancer stopped
growing. The defecation was eased, and it has
stayed like this since Feb 2002

26
Some practical examples - 6
  • Prostate cancer with multiple skeletal
    metastases
  • Man, 60 years
  • HT09, as the prostate (like the cervix) partly is
fire (sex) and partly water (kidney)
  • After the may-session the doctor told him that
the cancer had gone dormant, and had regressed
PSA was only 48 units which is good, subnormal)
he has had no other treatment

27
Some practical examples - 7
  • Mammary tumour diameter 1.1cm
  • bitch, English setter, born 1996
  • LV03, rationale given before
  • Tumour had regressed to 0.2cm after the 1.
    session.
  • On the 3. session the cancer was almost
    impossible to detect.
