Introduction and Course Description I am looking
forward to an exciting school year and hope that
you will find this year of World History very
rewarding. This course description should be
kept in your notebook and will serve as a
reminder of my classroom rules and procedures.
During this school year we will examine the
following topics the beginnings of civilization,
the Mediterranean world, the Middle Ages, the age
of empires, the spread of new ideas, the
transition to modern times, European dominance,
the World Wars and the Cold War Era.
11
Classroom Rules
  • 1. Never disrupt the lesson.
  • 2. Respect everyone in the room.
  • 3. Always come to class prepared.
  • Prepared means students have their book,
notebooks, paper and a writing utensil everyday
    in class.

12
Classroom Procedures
  • 1. Be in your assigned seat and ready to begin
class when the tardy bell rings.
  • 2. Hall passes Students are allowed no more than
two hall passes per six weeks.

13
Grading Scale Grades are based on classwork,
homework, tests, quizzes and notebooks. Each is
given a point value and at the end of the grading
period the total points you earn are divided by
the total points possible. This percentage will
be converted to a letter grade using the current
county scale.
14
Notebook All students are expected to keep a
notebook and bring it to class everyday. You
will be told at the end of each class what items
are expected to be kept in your notebook and a
sheet will also be posted in the classroom
listing the items. Students may check the sheet
periodically to be sure they are not missing any
notebook items.
15
Conduct All students are expected to obey all
school and classroom rules that have been
established. Those students who do not follow
the classroom rules and procedures will have the
following consequences assigned for their
infractions
16
First infraction Verbal Warning
Second infraction ½ hour detention
Third infraction A phone call to
parent/guardian
Fourth infraction Referral
17
Students that exhibit good conduct and
continually follow the rules and procedures as
good role models to their classmates may receive
a positive phone call or note sent home on Friday.
