OBJECTIVE

• Calendar
• Table created by the Computer Systems Manager.
• Manual
• Based on print version of Reference Manual.
• Print version copied into Wiki and formatted.
• Help Section
• Inspired by a colleagues suggestion of creating
  reference-oriented bookmarks.
• Reference Librarian examined recommended Websites
  on resources such as MLANET and government and
  library websites.
• Categories of links pertaining to topics such as
  consumer health, general reference, statistics,
  and university departments were created.
• Brandon-Hill list was used as model, for subject
  categories, and items on reserve were examined to
  determine which particular titles should be
  listed.
• Print and electronic reference resources
  examined.
• Log
• Created in 2006 as a way of communicating tips
  about student assignments and helpful Websites.

To develop a Wiki resource to communicate
ReferenceDesk policies and procedures to staff.

• Print and Wiki versions updated simultaneously.

• Includes Glossaries, Links, Reference Collection,
  and Subject Guides.
• Reference Collection-includes both print and
  electronic resources.
• Grouped by reference categorye.g., Dictionaries,
  Directories, Encyclopedias, etc.
• Subject Guides-Contain print and electronic books
  at the Hahnemann Library, Drexel University
  Health Sciences Libraries.
• Log
• Page headings at top of page for easier browsing.

IMPETUS

• Spring of 2005 the Wiki was introduced as a
  communication tool among Drexel Universitys
  Libraries.
• Reference Librarian believed Wiki could be a
  training resource for evening/weekend supervisors
  and library school students.
• Wiki would replace print version of reference
  manual that was used by the reference desk staff
  at the Hahnemann Library, Drexel University
  Health Sciences Libraries.

CONCLUSIONS

• Reference Wiki now consists of three sections.
• Calendar discontinued in Feb. 2007 in favor of
  Microsoft Outlook.
• Training sessions conducted to familiarize staff
  with Wiki.
• Always a work in progress.
