Tasks
  • Mission Statement
  • Statement of purpose (Recommend to ExCom how IEEE
802 should address coexistence in existing and
    future specs)
  • Definition of coexistence
  • Summary of current standards where coexistence is
    an issue
  • Possible ways ExCom can go forward
  • TAG
  • Output of SG (summary and report)
  • Schedule

3
Mission Statement
  • Proposal
  • The Coexistence TAG evaluates the coexistence
issues between IEEE802 wireless standards and
makes recommendations to the IEEE 802 Executive
    Committee.

4
Proposed Statement of Purpose
  • This TAG is responsible for reviewing all
    proposed wireless PARs
  • Like FCC/OET, evaluates PARs and highlights those
that may require a Recommended Practice
  • This TAG is responsible for generating a final
review report of the Draft Standard prior to
    Sponsor Ballot
  • TAG should begin work when the first WG ballot is
    published
  • Preliminary report should be issued to SEC within
    90 days
  • Must be voted on by TAG
  • Must be ratified by SEC
  • SEC can require creation of a TG to write
    Recommended Practice

5
Coexistence Definition
  • Coexistence The ability of one system to
perform a task in a given shared environment
where other systems have an ability to perform
their tasks and may or may not be using the same
    set of rules.
  • Coexistence is quantified by degradation
(simulated or measured) under a set of usage
model assumptions, which must be defined for
    coexisting systems
