- VERY IMPORTANT
- Alternative Ideas!!!
- Pencils for every child
- Buy ice cream for the class
- Buy a book and donate it to the library
- Donate books to our classroom
- Please do not send birthday invitations to
school. I am not allowed to send them home in
folders.
8Folders
- Red Daily Folder This comes home from school and
back to school every day!!! This will contain
any important information that I need to get to
you. - Friday Folders These will come home every Friday
with all of your childs work.
9Attendance and Notes
- Please put any notes in your childs daily
folder. This will keep them from getting lost. - Absent notes need to be sent in within 5 days of
the absence. - Transportation notes need to be sent in if your
child is ever going home a different way than
usual.
10Behavior Plan
Your child has a chance to earn big bucks all
week long. When they earn 5 big bucks, they get
a chance to pick something out of our treasure
chest. Your child can also lose big bucks if
their behavior is not doing very good!
11Language Arts
- We use the Harcourt Language Art series to teach
your child to read. We combine phonics and whole
language to teach your child how to decode words
and learn to read.
Getting to know you I am special Around the
table Silly Business Family Ties Animal
Families Animal Adventures Around the
town Neighborhood Helpers Exploring our
surroundings Under the ocean
12Language Arts Centers
- Every day we will have 6 Language Arts centers.
They will have a reading center, writing center,
letter of the week center, computer center,
phonics center, and an independent reading
center.
13- We use the Harcourt Language Art series to teach
your child to read. I combine phonics and whole
language to teach your child how to decode words
and learn to read. I have many of my own books
that I use also. I try to do what is best for
your child. If they are ready for a more
challenging book, I give them what they need
not just the next book in the series!!
14Green Reading Folders
- Starting after tonight, a green reading folder
will be coming home. Inside will be a reading
guide and book. There will be specific things
that you will have to do with your child. It is
to be read the night that it is sent home.
Please set a good example now for doing homework.
15Math
- We are very excited that we have received a new
math series. We have the Houghton Mifflin Math
series. Houghton Mifflin created a math series
centered around our Georgia Performance
standards. In this series, your child gets
his/her own workbook and practice workbook.
16- Each day your child will participate in 4
different math centers. By putting your child in
small groups like this they will learn much more
and will receive individualized attention.
17Side Note
- I would love to have volunteers for both LA
centers and math centers. In a perfect world I
would have 1 parent every day for each session.
Please let me know if you are able to do any
weekly volunteering. Even if you want to come
for one session one day and another on a
different day I will work with your schedule!!!!
