2009-2010 Key Objectives
TRANSITION TO NATIONAL REGISTRATION AND
ACCREDITATION Work in line with the National
Registration and Accreditation Project Team to
ensure a smooth transition. Ensure an effective,
efficient and timely transition process. Maximise
current infrastructure to support national
transition. Ensure governance of the NMBWA
through transition to new national board. Ensure
effective and efficient management of NMBWA
continues through transition to National
Registration and Accreditation.
Vision To influence quality nursing and
midwifery practice for the community of Western
Australia. Mission NMBWA is responsible for
protecting the community by ensuring safe
standards of nursing and midwifery practice.

  • Continue to maximise opportunities for
    improvement within the organisation.
  • Maintain and improve the NMBWA Contribution to
    Environmental Sustainability.
  • Consolidate and further develop Information
    Technology Opportunities for the Customer.
  • Maintain teamwork and wellness culture within the
    organisation.
  • CUSTOMERS
  • Ensure all NMBWA customers are aware of national
    registration and the accreditation scheme and its
    impact.
  • Ensure all NMBWA customers are aware of and are
    provided the current level of service.
  • Ensure all NMBWA customers are communicated to
    effectively in regards to current operations.

REGULATION Ensure NMBWA and education provider
English language competence requirements are in
line with the national standards for assessment
of internationally qualified nurses and midwives
for registration and migration. Continue to
evaluate accreditation processes of nursing and
midwifery programs leading to registration. Contin
ue to identify best practice clinical education
models and the implementation of continuing
education for future initiatives. Ensure NMBWA
process for complaints is considered by national
system. Manage complaints efficiently and
effectively. Promote use of ANMC Competency
Standards.
