- He Despised His Heritage (13)
- Samson was born into a godly home, to parents who
believed in prayer and the fear and worship of
God (vs. 8, 19-22). - God gave to Samson a special endowment of the
Holy Spirit that made him a conqueror (vs.
24-25). - Samson didnt take his blessings and his work
seriously. He was a profane man like Esau (Heb.
1216-17).

- He Defied His Parents (141-5)
- He went into enemy territory and fell in love
with a heathen woman. (Deut. 71-6) - When his parents reminded him of Gods law, he
defied them. (Eph. 61-3) - His parents should have obeyed God rather than
men (Acts 529). - God would use Samsons sin to weaken the
Philistines (v. 4).

- God gave Samson the power to overcome the lion
even though he was not walking completely in
Gods will. - A Nazarite was never to touch a dead body, but
Samson deliberately defiled himself for the sake
of the honey! - He then made a joke about it to entertain his
friends!

- God delivered him repeatedly, but then warned him
by showing him how weak he was. - Even though Samsons parents had been prayerful,
we find only two prayers of Samson here, for
water (vs. 18-20), and in 1628, for strength to
destroy the Philistines.

- Already sought one foreign woman, but now going
deep into enemy territory to Gaza for another. - Three times Delilah enticed Samson, and three
times he lied to her. Each time the enemy
attacked him, so he should have realized he was
in danger. But read Prov. 721-27 to see why
Samson yielded.

- CONCLUSION
- The rest of the story shows the tragic end of the
believer who will not let God have his way with
his life. - Samson is an illustration of people who have
great strength to conquer the externals of life,
but who cannot conquer themselves.
