Changes in the Land
  • ByJennifer B.

2
Definitions
  • Deposition-The process by which sediment is
placed in another area by wind, plants, and
    water.
  • Erosion-The laying down of sediment.

3
Forces-Water
  • In the background, there is a wave that is eroding
the beach. This force is called water. It is the
main force that shapes earths surface.

4
Forces-Rain
  • Rain is another kind of water erosion.
  • Rain erodes by hitting the ground. Each drop is
like its own pond which can expand.

5
Ice
  • Water flows into cracks, then it freezes over
night. The ice then cracks which cause the rock to
    crack with it.

6
Forces-Wind
  • Tornadoes are a kind of wind force.
  • They form mostly in deserts.

7
Wind-Gale winds
  • Gale winds create landforms called sand dunes,
which are mounds of sand usually in deserts.

8
Wind-Hurricanes
  • Hurricanes are similar to tornadoes, but they
    carry water.
  • Hurricanes form near beaches instead of in the
    middle of the desert.

9
Terms-result of deposits by rivers
  • Alluvial fans-Similar to deltas that come out
    from mountain valleys.
  • Delta-An end of a river that is fan shaped and
    flows into an ocean

10
Terms-result of erosion by rivers
  • Oxbow lakes-Meanders which get cut off from a
    river.
  • Meander-A curve in a river where eroded sediment
    is.
  • Waterfall-A river that flows over a hard layer of
rock and under it is soft rock that wears away
    first.
