2 Why Should We Organize?
- What are the advantages for us to organize AFA ?
- Collective Bargaining Power (having a contract)
- Legislative Strength
- Moral Obligation / Social Responsibility (esp. if
we are the largest carrier and positioned to set
industry trends) - Improve Quality of Life for All U.S. Workers
- Raise the Bar for Workers Around the World in our
Global Economy - Temper Abuse of Corporate Power
3Organizing 101What if we dont organize?
- What industry threats exist if we fail to
organize? - Pay, benefit and pension cuts as the industry
continues to battle with fuel costs and the
effects of globalization - Massive outsourcing of U.S. based FA jobs as
previously demanded by NWA executives now at
Delta - Loss in health benefits as our health care system
declines - No due process or grievance procedure if work
rules are not adhered to or violated - No seat at the table when it is time to negotiate
important decisions (like equity, stock and base
closures for ex.) - Missing out on the opportunity to SET industry
trends that favor FAs rather than contribute to
their decline
4Mobilization 101Why Mobilize Our FAs?
- AFAs power at any point in time is nothing
more than the total energy and support of its FA
members who can be mobilized.
