Title: GODS ETERNAL PURPOSE
1GODS ETERNAL PURPOSE Romans 828-30
2INTRODUCTION Proverbs 2918 and Hebrews 122
both seem to imply that a clear and practical
understanding of Gods purpose enables us to bear
and/or overcome the challenges of life.
3INTRODUCTION King David, Apostle Paul and Jesus
are all examples of this truth. Therefore we
will briefly examine Romans 828-29 and other
Bible passages in order to gain a practical
understanding of Gods Eternal Purpose.
4DEFINITION Romans 829-30 Gods purpose is to
raise up and glorify many sons and daughters who
are conformed to the image of His only begotten
Son Jesus. These spiritual children will have
unbroken fellowship with their heavenly Father
and perfectly represent Him in the earth,
(Genesis 126-28 Rom. 829-30 Revelation
211-3).
5This eternal purpose is simultaneously being
manifested through the individual members and the
corporate body of Christ, (N.B. Ephesians 4
13-16). Gods image is Christ-like character
and it is best shown in the Fruit of the Holy
Spirit Gal. 522-23 Col. 115
6EXPLANATION Romans 828a God uses every aspect
of our lives to work his purpose out, i.e.
situations, circumstances, and relationships.
He is best understood as gold or silver smith
who patiently works with the raw material until
His reflection can clearly be seen in the
finished product.
7- The process often involves pain because of
- Our stubborn resistance, (Jer. 184)
- 2. Satans deceitful interference, (Genesis
- 31-5) and
- 3. The fact that God is far more interested
- in our character rather than our comfort,
- (N.B. Job).
