• University Budget and Planning Software

Purpose

• To successfully install the newly adopted
  University software

NSTAR

Settings

• You must run Internet Explorer web browser with
  NSTAR.
• Before you get started, just a couple of
  housekeeping items
• Make sure you are an administrator on your
  machine and that you connect to the NAU server.
• If your college or building has its own server
  (i.e. FCB or the Science Lab Facility)you will
  need to contact your internal support systems
  analyst.
• VISTA (MicroSofts new operating system) is NOT
  compatible with NSTAR.
• Set screen resolution to at least 1024 by 768
• Start button
• Control Panel
• Display

• If you are running the Google or Yahoo toolbar,
  you must uninstall these programs
• If you are not sure whether you have the toolbar,
  access your Window Task Manager (simultaneously
  press the Ctrl, Alt and Delete keys
• Click the Processes tab
• Scroll through the list to see if either Google
  Toolbar or Yahoo Toolbar is listed
• If it is, go through the uninstall program
  process using the My Computer option

• NSTAR operates primarily on macros so it is
  EXTREMELY important to enable them before you
  install.
• Enable your 2003 Excel macro option
• Open native Excel
• Tools
• Options
• Security
• Macro Security Medium
• Enable your 2007 Excel macro option
• Open native Excel
• Click on the Office button in the top, left
  corner
• Excel Options
• Trust Center
• Trust Center Settings
• Macro
• Enable

Step 1.0 Getting Started

• Navigate to the NAU server for NSTAR.
• Open your favorite web browser
• Enter the address http//pinon.ucc.nau.edu/osoft/

Step 2.0 Client Software Center

• Single click on Client Software Center.

Step 3.0 Diagnostics

• Run the BPC Client Diagnostic to make sure you
  have the appropriate computer specifications.

• Click Next.

• If you have anything other than a green
  checkmark call ITS for assistance with
  upgrading options.
• Otherwise, click Close.

Note the green checkmarks

• If you get an error on the Microsoft.Net
  Framework.
• Install the file from http//www.microsoft.com/do
  wnloads/details.aspx?FamilyId262D25E3-F589-4842-8
  157-034D1E7CF3A3displaylangen
• Click Download. Once you have the file you can
  continue with the NSTAR install.

If theres no checkmark - you MUST install the
.net file

Step 4.0 BPC Installation

• Click on BPC for Office Installation.

• Click Next (you have already done this with the
  diagnostic tool.)

• Begin software download by clicking Next.

• Accept the terms and click Next.

• Accept the default for English and click
  Next.

• Accept the default for Destination Location by
  clicking Next.

• This is an erroneous error click Finish.

Step 5.0 BPC Load

• Click back.

• Notice you have the MSOffice programs now.

• Click once on BPC for Excel icon.

• Select AppSet NAU_PROD and single click on
  Connection Wizard.

Choose NAU_PROD

• Enter server name (pinon.ucc.nau.edu) and click
  Next.
• Choose the Use secure port radio button.

• Accept the default and click Next.

• Select AppSet NAU_PROD and single click on
  Next.

• You have successfully installed NSTAR and now you
  are ready to start budgeting your accounts.
