Title: Overview of Potential Intermodal Transportation Facility Sites
1Overview of Potential Intermodal Transportation
Facility Sites
- Upper Valley Intermodal Transportation Facility
Project Advisory Committee - October 14, 2009
2Interstate 89- Exit 17 (Lebanon)
3Interstate 89- Exit 17 (Lebanon)
- Approximately 17 acres adjacent to I-89 Exit 17
Southbound ramps. - Would not be walkable to Lebanon CBD or large
employers. - Modest terrain challenges, but workable.
- Development of the site may necessitate
improvements to Exit 17 interchange.
4Interstate 89- Exit 18 (Site 1)
Densmore Brickyard
5Interstate 89- Exit 18 (Site 1)
- Former site of the Densmore Brickyard (Approx.
130 over three parcels) - Could spur other mixed-use or tranist-oriented
development - Adequacy of existing infrastructure connecting
the site to Interstate 89 is a concern, and may
require reconnection of Hanover Street. - Would be easily walkable to Lebanon CBD.
6Interstate 89- Exit 18 (Site 2)
Lebanon Armory
7Interstate 89- Exit 18 (Site 2)
- Excellent connectivity to Interstate 89 Exit 18.
- 7-acre site may not be large enough to
accommodate Intermodal Facility. - Site availability is a concern give the current
military use. - Potential walkability to Lebanon CBD and Route
120 employers.
8Interstate 89- Exit 18 (Site 3)
Bayson Site
9Interstate 89- Exit 18 (Site 3)
- 4-acre site at corner of Heater and Old Etna Road
is likely not large enough to accommodate
Intermodal Facility. - Could be walkable to large Route 120 employers
and adjacent residential neighborhoods. - Availability of the site is in question.
10Interstate 89- Exit 18 (Site 4)
Elks/Red Barn Site
11Interstate 89- Exit 18 (Site 4)
- Large site of approx. 60 acres would easily
accommodate Intermodal Facility. - Excellent connectivity to Interstate 89 Exit 18.
- Potential walkability to Lebanon Central Business
District (CBD) and Route 120 employers. - Availability of the site (or part of the site) is
in question.
12Interstate 89- Exit 20 (Site 1)
Lebanon Airport
13Interstate 89- Exit 20 (Site 1)
- Access to Interstate 89 is problematic.
- Site is at the end of a mile-long dead-end road
and would require a second access/egress. - Would provide connectivity for air
transportation. - Site is not easily accessible to pedestrians and
cyclists. - Developable land is owned by the City of Lebanon.
14Interstate 89- Exit 20 (Site 2)
Westboro Railyard
15Interstate 89- Exit 20 (Site 2)
- Westboro Railyard site was suggested in a recent
Valley News editorial. - Could provide potential connection to future rail
transportation. - Site may not provide efficient access to
Interstate 89. - Developing the site as an Intermodal Facility may
run contrary to long-standing community planning
for the site.
16White River Junction (Site 1)
- Vacant former Saturn dealership at junction of
Route 5/Sykes Mountain Ave in White River
Junction. - Site is not large enough to accommodate an
Intermodal Transportation Facility and provides
no room for potential expansion.
17Other Sites Submitted for Consideration
- Interstate 91 Exit 13 in Norwich
- Existing Lebanon Municipal Parking Lot
- Grade-separated entrance ramps from NH Route 120
Bridge - Connectivity to potentially restored rail
service. - Large-scale parking structure with rooftop
garden. - Veterans Administration Hospital
