Mechanical Top Up Cooling Units
- The new Squid top up mechanical cooling units
are operational and were used towards the end of
the summer period. - These units were also retrofitted to the 2nd and
6th floors. - They are currently set to operate when internal
temperature reaches 27Deg. C. - Design assumes around 200 hours operation per
summer.

Winter Ventilation to Old Block
- To provide acceptable winter ventilation to the
old block, a system of Co2 controlled radiators
is being installed. - The system is called oXygen manufactured by
Jaga of Belgium - 6 oXygen radiators have been installed as part
of the 3rd floor project
26REVIVAL STEVENAGE
- System has Co2 controls and can also be used in
summer to provide controlled ventilation within
the passive cooled area
27Two oXegen units within single Radiator
oXegen units are controlled through power
circuit (Laptop is part of control system will
allow detailed monitoring)
28REVIVAL STEVENAGE
Problem Encountered in last reporting period
- Solar Panels damaged in storm during installation
29REVIVAL STEVENAGE
Problem Encountered in last reporting period
- Serious Flood to 3rd floor 3 days after
completion
30REVIVAL STEVENAGE
Monitoring Evaluation Programme
- Stevenage Monitoring Exercise aims to demonstrate
improvements in energy performance against a
target Co2 reduction of 50
Stevenage project will show efficiency
improvements both in terms of the buildings
-Energy performance -Space Utilisation
efficiency
31REVIVAL STEVENAGE
- Monitoring of all REVIVAL Elements will take
place in 2007 - As well as whole building consumption monitoring,
Main Emphasis will be Comprehensive Monitoring of
3rd Floor Old Block, including - Consumption Monitoring
- Power to lighting office equipment
- Power to Cooldeck, top up cooling, Oxegen units
- Comfort Conditioning Monitoring
- Temperature, RH, Internal Co2,
32REVIVAL STEVENAGE
- Area Usage monitoring
- Sample monitoring of Actual occupancy levels
- Actual periods of use
- Sample Monitoring of Plant Equipment Operating
Periods - Lighting (Summer Winter)
- Cooldeck system (summer only)
- Oxegen ventilation units (Summer Winter)
- Cooldeck system Performance Monitoring
- Full 12 point temperature monitoring to be
repeated - PCM performance to be monitored with addition of
Heat flux sensor
