- From the Joint Statement of Understanding
between NSP and NSAA - A patrol, once established at a given ski area,
is under the supervision of the ski area
management and must abide by the policies and
procedures established by that management - It is recognized that ski area management
ultimately supervises and controls many of the
patrolling activities of individual NSP members
and patrols of each area. - It is specifically understood that nothing
contained in the Joint Statement of
Understanding shall in any way vary the clear,
non-employee status of individual volunteer
patrollers.

- From Perfect North Slopes Ski Patrol patroller
procedures and guidelines - Remember that a Ski Patroller is active
because of their love of the sport and their
dedication to their fellow skiers. Our goal is to
provide a service to Perfect North Slopes Ski
Area, challenge our own personal skills, and to
have fun while doing it

- Area mgmt has final review for new prospective
patrollers, and the right to remove existing
patrollers, and from our bylaws Ski Area
management will select the Patrol Representative
from the current or former Board of Directors
membership - Also from our bylaws the primary purpose of
the patrol is to fulfill the NSP Mission under
the Authority of the Ohio region, Central
Division. The Patrol is established to serve the
skiing public and the ski area management of
Perfect North Slopes.

- In summary, at Perfect North Slopes
- The PR manages the patrol subject to the
requirements set out by NSP, the Bylaws, the
policy and procedures manual of the patrol and
shall see that the authorizations and the
recommendations of the Board of Directors are
carried into effect with concurrence of the ski
area management. - The PR will be the direct liaison to the ski
area management and will coordinate all patrol
activity with the ski area management.

- Other important statements form our manuals
include - You are representing Perfect North Slopes at all
times, even though you might not be at the area - Crew chief duties include Maintain
communication with the PNS staff and between the
crewmembers

- With respect to chair lift evacuation only area
management will make the decision to have a
general evacuation - Relative to calling Air Care the Crew Chief
along with PNS Management will make the final
decision to initiate the call

- At Perfect North Slopes it is clear that members
of our patrol serve the skiing public by - Using the skills established by their NSP
training - Following the policies, procedures and guidelines
established by the management of Perfect North
Slopes. - Following the criteria for being a patroller
established by our patrol administration!

policy - Who is an insured Your employees and any
volunteers of the named insured, but only for
acts within the scope of their employment by you
or at your direction

- Relative to other concerns, we clearly consider
members of the Perfect North Slopes Ski Patrol as
volunteers, contributing their time for the well
being of the skiing public, acting on behalf of
the management of Perfect North Slopes.
19- Clearly, the longstanding affiliation between
National Ski Patrol, its individual members, ski
area management, and --most importantly -- the
skiing public has been overwhelmingly positive.
