EPCRA

• The Emergency Planning and Community
  Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) was enacted in 1986 in
  response to accidental chemical releases in
  Bophal, India (1984) and Institute, West Virginia
  (1985)
• EPCRA established requirements for the State
  Emergency Response Commission and the Local
  Emergency Planning Committee

• Maintains Emergency Response Plans
• Maintains copies of chemical inventories
• Maintains MSDS or list of hazardous chemicals in
  the inventories
