Top 3 Client Expectations
  • Be a source of information.
  • Coffee Café from now on referred to as CC
    would like their new and existing customers to
    easily find information. They want to post their
    hours, location, musical guests, and menu items.
    CC has a large variety of products (organic
    free-trade coffee and tea, smoothies, muffins,
    scones, wraps, paninis, sandwiches, etc.) and
    would like to market its products online. This
    information must be organized, easy-to-access,
    and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Attract new customers.
  • CC expects this website to increase its
    customer base. Their goal is to draw 100 new
    customers to their store each week.
  • Become a strong community presence for local
    music artists.
  • CC wants this website to result in a 20 weekly
    increase at music shows. They also want to post
    events and have resources for upcoming artists.

The Target Audience
  • CC is located in the Bucktown neighborhood in
    Chicago, IL. The clients are young adults with
    ages ranging from 23-30. Many are single or newly
    married college graduates, living in an apartment
    with roommates. They are into saving money before
    buying a house and/or growing their family. In
    addition they are positive and want to experience
    the best in life, hoping that their first job out
    of college will most likely be a stepping-stone
    to their dream job. They are into social media
    and somewhat tech-savvy. Many are musicians,
    writers, and out-of-work professionals who gather
    at CC. More of this hipster group is starting
    to hang out at CC they get exposure for their
    art and music while CC benefits from the influx
    of visitors and curious crowds. Notably, a small
    group of young musicians has begun to form at CC
    on Saturday evenings. In addition a few older
    adults from the Flower Generation of the 60s
    70s still frequent CC.

  • Color.The choice of colors is based on the
    product, target audience, and general atmosphere
    of the business.Coffee suggested dark brown
    shades, that created dynamic contrast with the
    bright upbeat orange and pistachio green,
    suggesting organic products. Overall, warm and
    inviting pallet should welcome viewers.
  • Layout type.JelloThe main column would be
    flexible, while right column would have fixed
    size. The flexibility of the main column would
    allow for expanding website without drastically
    changing design.
  • Fonts.Arial San-serifAll headings and
    subheadings, as well as links are bold. lth1gt is
    35px, lth2gt  - 14px, ltpgt (main content) is 12px,
    footer - 12px.12px is a standard size for the
    web text. Considering the amount of text, page
    would look clattered should the font size
    increase. lth1gt has good contrast with the font
    size of the main content.
