2010 cpac in Washington, DC
  • Santa Fe College Republicans

2
Cpac
  • Conservative Political Action Conference
  • 1973
  • Largest annual gathering of conservatives
  • Half of those in attendance are college students

3
CPAC
  • Why do we want to go?
  • Listen to our political leaders and role models
    speak live
  • Further educate ourselves on Republican and
    conservatives principles
  • Explore the beautiful and historic capital of our
    country
  • Meet other like-minded college students from
    around the nation

4
CPAC
  • How did we fundraise?
  • Our club members worked on the Rick Scott for
    Governor campaign earning 8/hour
  • We worked a total of 247 hours.
  • 247 hours is the equivalent of having 31 four
hour bake sales with two club members at the
    table at all times.
  • Thats equal to 3 bake sales a week, every week,
    for three straight months

  • How are we going to get there and how much will
    it cost?
  • Round Trip Flight Tickets

If a round trip flight between Orlando and DC
costs about 140, and we have 17 passengers, this
will total to 2,380

CPAC
  • How are we going to stay there and how much will
    it cost?
  • Hotel

We are planning to take 11 females and put 4 in
each room, plus 5 males with 4 in each room,
plus 1 advisor with her own room, which will
equal 6 rooms. Our rooms will cost about 100 per
night and we will be there for 2 nights. 100
(6 rooms x 2 nights) 1,200

cpac
  • How much will it cost us to attend the
    conference?
  • Registration Tickets

As a reward for our hard work, our club is
receiving discounted tickets at the rate of 25
per student. Our advisor, Debi, is not a
student, so she will be paying general admission
Our club is going to use our fundraised money to
cover the entire cost of registration for all 17
traveling members.

ACCOUNTING HW
  • We started the year with 500 in our Fund 2 and
    80 in our Fund 6
  • We fundraised 450 through the College Republican
National Committee and 2,000 through the Rick
    Scott for Governor campaign
  • We currently have 3,030 in our Fund 2 and 6
    accounts combined
  • We spent 830 on tickets to the Ronald Reagan BBQ
  • We want to keep the 500 in our Fund 2 in order
to pay for the events we had this semester, fund
the ones we will have next semester, invest in
our Relay for Life Team, and eventually purchase
20 T-Shirts for our club members
  • We are using our fundraising money to purchase
our conference tickets at 25/student for 16
students and 175 for our advisor, totaling 575
  • 3,030 - 830 - 500 - 575 1,125 we have to
    spend on our trip
  • 1 round trip airplane ticket will cost at
    cheapest 140, times 17 passengers 2,380
  • If 1 hotel room costs about 100 per night and we
need 6 rooms for 2 nights, this will equal 1,200
  • 2,380 1,200 3,580 is approximately the
    amount our trip will cost
  • 3,580 1,125 2,455 is how much we still
    need
  • If our 17 travelers contribute 27 of their own
money towards this trip, or 459 total, that will
bring the cost down to 1,996
  • If we receive this overflow request and the
number of travelers reduces, or we find more
affordable airplane and hotel rates, we promise
to give Senate back any and all of the money we
saved and/or is not spent on an extra traveler

CPAC
  • We are using our fundraised money to purchase our
registration tickets and we are using our
personal money to pay for baggage fees, meals,
metro tickets, and all other personal expenses.
  • We just need help paying for our airplane tickets
    and hotel rooms.
  • Please help us, Senate!
