Chinese New Year Day
  • When I lived in China, we wore new clothes, and
got lots of money from our parents, and
    grandmothers and grandfathers.
  • We visited family people who also gave us
presents for a Happy New Year.
  • People talked with each other a lot and we made
    dumplings and ate them.
  • We also saw street shows and ate food then.

has them on New Years Day and the USA has them
    mostly on New Years Eve.

10

    with each other.

    to watch on TV.

Chinese and American Independence Day
12
Chinese Independence Day Background
  • October 1st 1949 is when the Peoples Republic of
China was born. Independence day is the day that
not the original government was defeated and fled
    to Taiwan.
  • That is the back ground of the Chinese
    independence day.

13
American Independence Day Background
  • American Independence Day is the most important
patriotic holiday celebrating the birth of a
nation. In 1776 the 13 American colonies were in
the midst of their revolutionary against Great
Britain. On July 4th of that year the Continental
Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence,
a document which declared the colonies free and
independent states. That is the back ground of
    American independence.

14
Similarities
  • The similarities between Chinese Independence Day
and the American Independence Day are that they
both celebrate the freedom of a new county.

15
Differences
  • Chinese Independence Day is October 1st and
American Independence Day is July 4th.
  • For Chinese Independence Day we have one week off
from school and for American Independence Day
there is no school but the worker gets that day
    off.

16
Independence Day Shows
  • For Chinese Independence Day there are many shows
and many people will go out shopping and have
parties in their houses and there are many shows
on the TV that celebrate Independence Day.
  • On American Independence Day people will have
parties in their house and people will go out to
see the fireworks and shop out side for a lot of

  • The difference between Japanese Childrens Day
and American Childrens Day are that Americans do
not decorate the outside of their houses like
    Japanese do.
  • Japanese Childrens Day is on May 5th. But
American Childrens Day is not as popular. Some
people say that American Childrens day is not
    officially made.
  • But President Clinton declared a National
Childrens Day on Oct. 8, 2000.

24
Childrens Day Shows
  • Americans usually do not decorate out side. But
Japanese do. Japanese decorate with a carp
banner that is called koinobori. Japanese also
decorate inside too. Japanese decorate with
kabuto. This is a Japanese Samurais helmet and
    head guard.
  • Japanese decorate their house from April to early
May in honor of their sons and in the hope that
they will grow up healthy and strong.
