6Profile Impressionism
- The name comes from Impressions, Sunrise a
painting of Claude Monet - Its a form of art that begin in France in the
late 19th century. - The leaders of the movements were Claude Monet
and Pierre-Auguste Renoir - They used vibrant color to capture the
impressions of light in nature.

7Profile Fauvism
- The name comes the French word fauve which
means Wild Beasts. - Its a style of painting that began in the early
20th century. - The leaders of the movement were Henri Matisse
and Andre Derain and Georges Braque and Maurice
de Vlamink. - They used colors to express their emotions about
the subjects.

8Technique Impressionism
Subjects Landscape was an important subject
for them. They also painted ordinary people
in everyday life.
Lighting They focused on the effects of light in
nature.
Color
The color are vivid, bright
vibrant they never use black in their palette.
Brushstrokes
They use a technique
called broken color.

Brushstrokes
They believe in the
simple and spontaneous brushstrokes.
Colors For them, color should be used to express
the emotions of the artist about a subject.
Subjects abstract, simple, flat, vague and
distorted.
10Women Impressionists
Berthe Morisot (January 14, 1841 March 2,
1895) close friend and colleague of Manet was
highly appreciated by the critics who call her
the most impressionistic of the Impressionists.
Mary Cassatt (May 22, 1844 June 14, 1926) an
American artist developed her style during her
studies in Paris.
Marie Bracquemond (1841 in Morlaix 1916 in
Paris) Exhibited with the impressionists but
abandoned painting because of her husband painter
himself.
