will use them throughout your life. Although your
job may not appear to use numbers a lot, even
everyday chores such as how many people want a
cup of tea or what time you have to be in a
meeting. We have gone around some of the
departments at LFC to show you how numbers are
used in some very different scenarios

Ticket Office
There are 45,000 seats inside Anfield, of
which 28,500 are season ticket holders.
How many of the seats do not belong to season
ticket holders?

the games only sell some of the 45,000 tickets,
how many seats would there be taken if only 2/3

This is the most important department for
numbers. They are in charge of the finances of
nearly all the Club. They pay the phone bill for
Reduc_at_te each quarter and this is on average

on 40,000 per week and there are 4 weeks in a

Shop
The Club shop hires out security staff to ensure
the safety of the staff and customers. If the
security staff are paid 45 per day and there are
3 of them employed in the shop that day, how much
money will the shop need to take from its budget
to pay for their services?

The shop also has to ensure that their stock
supplies are kept up to date so that most items
are on sale. The most popular items are footballs
which come in boxes of 50. If the shop orders 10
boxes but 1/5 of the balls are left, how many
balls were sold?

Staffing is very important to the Shop. If the
shop is open every day and there are 56 staff on
the rota, how many staff are there on average
each day?
