COMPUTER PROJECT INSTRUCTIONS

• PURPOSE
• To teach students how to use the computer to
  access information on a specific topic using
  reference CDs and the Internet.
• To show the importance of highlighting important
  facts for a report.
• To allow students to become familiar with a
  word-processing program to write the report in
  its finished form in their own words.

DIRECTIONS

• You are to select a topic to research such as a
  famous person, an event in history, or a major
  discovery or invention. After selecting the
  topic, check with your teacher for approval.
• When you are scheduled for the computer, research
  your topic from one of the reference CDs. Print
  out your article.
• Next, you are to research your topic from an
  Internet Web Site. Print out your article.
• At home, read your material and highlight the
  important parts with a highlighter. Then write a
  rough draft about your topic in pencil.
• When you are rescheduled for the computer, type
  out your draft using a word-processing program
  (about one page).
• Staple all papers together and turn in to your
  teacher. You may design a cover page using a
  program such as "Print Artist" but this is not a
  requirement.
