Professor of Anesthesiology
  • The UAB Board of Trustees approved the
establishment of a School of Medicine Pilot
Center on Pulmonary Injury and Repair (September
    2008).
  • Southern Research Institute joined forces with
    UAB in funding this center.
  • The major goals of the PIRC are
  • To promote, support and enhance cutting-edge
research on lung injury and repair from bench
(molecular mechanisms of lung diseases) to the
bedside (testing the efficacy of new agents in
    curing lung disease).
  • To enhance awareness in the community of recent
advances in the treatment of major respiratory
    diseases.
