The Russia Initiative

• Began in 1991 under GBGM
• Purpose was to deliver humanitarian aid
• then re-establish UMCs
• Church growth exploded
• Now concentrates on partnerships
• Spiritual growth and excitement about God!

SPECIFIC NEEDS
Approximately 14,000 to provide rental space for
5 years for worship centers and places to meet
for Bible study Camp Crystal in Voronezh
retreat and recreation center in desperate need
of repair. Need UMVIM teams to volunteer as well
as approximately 100,000 to repair and update
facilities. Supporting Congregations to help
local pastor assume duties (helps to provide
salary for UM pastor).

• 1855 United Brethren Church sent missionaries
• Life in West Africa has been filled with
  political corruption, military coups, poverty,
  health concerns, lack of economic opportunities
  and civil war.

Training facility for public health education.
Needed in both Sierra Leone and Liberia at an
approximate cost of 30,000 each Solar wind
system and gravity flow water supply approx.
20,000 Training for persons who will work at
the health clinics UMVIM teams to build
relationships with the people

  1896 with Bishop Joseph Hartzell (Cleveland
  connection)
• Country suffers from enormous inflation rate
  (nearly 3000 percent)
• ½ population is Christian
• HIV/AIDS

KENSINGTON SCHOOL secondary school on Bulawayo
District (approx. 200,000) Nyahuku River School
and Clinic school supplies and school fees
needed so children may attend. (approx.
20,000) Nyanyadze Home of Hope started in
2000 specifically for children orphaned by
HIV/AIDS. (approx. 5,000)
