Artist Statement
  • My Interest in art started when I was young. Ive
always loved to create things because I
  • love pictures and what the eye can see. I find it
amazing, in that you dont have to be a
  • wonderful artist in order to make something
    beautiful. My grandmother, Giovanna, was
  • an artist, and I have always looked up to her.
When it all comes down to it, I feel like we
  • are similar women, just with a generation gap.
Through the early 60s in New York my
  • grandmothers job was to sketch clothing designs
for high class stores, to put in the
  • newspaper. She also designed windows in the city
to advertise. She still paints today, at
  • the age of eighty, and I really admire and envy
    the lifestyle she had.
  • I typically use people and nature as subject
matters. I also love to design though. I
  • draw clothing and different inventions I have
created in my mind. I really love to work with
  • Color.
  • When in college I would love to major in design,
and learn more about clothing design.
  • High School does not offer courses for that, so
it would be great to learn something so
  • new to me. I hope one day to be a clothing
designer or advertising designer, and art is
  • the key to obtaining these careers.

Audrey
  • I used pen and ink to create this piece. I love
Audrey Hepburn, in the movie Breakfast at
Tiffanys, and I thought this photograph had
really good contrast for using ink wash.

5
Gnome
  • I hand-built this pot out of coils. After
constructing the cylinder I added clay to make a
face, beard, and clothes. I love how it came out,
and the glazes worked really well.

6
Lightning
  • I used acrylic on canvas for this painting. The
picture shows nature, and is conveyed through the
    cool colors I used.

7
Strawberry Pot
  • This pot was constructed by using slabs. I
decorated it by adding strawberries and swirls.
On the side of the pot I hand carved flower
designs. I used a shiny, copper glaze, with a
dark undertone, to add depth to the details.
