Probation
  • Any student, except a first-quarter freshman,
    whose cumulative grade average falls below 2.00
    is placed on academic probation.
  • A student on probation must earn a 2.0 quarterly
    GPA to stay at Western.

Continuing Probation
  • A student who begins a quarter on probation and,
    during that quarter, earns a grade average of
    2.00 or higher without raising his or her
    cumulative grade average to at least 2.00 is
    placed on continuing probation.
  • The student must then improve his or her
    cumulative grade average to at least 2.00 or
    attain at least a 2.30 quarterly average during
    the next quarter of  enrollment.

Creating a Good Schedule
  • Do not overload on credits
  • Make progress towards GURs
  • Do not work more than 15 hours
  • Meet with your advisor

Repeating Courses
  • Repeating a course does not replace or remove the
    original grade from your transcript.
  • Credit is earned only once.
  • Recommended if the course is needed as a
    prerequisite or for major preparation.

Continuing and Independent Learning Courses
  • Take Paper-Based or Online Classes and Earn
    Regular Western Credit!
  • Take up to 9 Months to Finish the Course!
  • Many GUR and Upper Division Offerings!
  • Add Credit to your Transcript without
    Overloading!
  • Check for Financial Aid rules.

Taking Courses at Community College
  • GPA Does not transfer with credits
  • Check transferability of courses Before enrolling
    at the community college.
  • Certain courses are best taken at WWU, such as a
    biology, chemistry, physics series or Math. Check
    with departments

Important Dates and Deadlines
  • Last Day for Late Course Withdrawal
  • Friday, November 9th by 500 PM
  • Do this person at the registrars office
  • in OM 230
  • Last Day to Withdraw from WWU
  • Friday, November 30th

When to Use Your Late Course Withdrawal
Privilege
  • Protect your GPA!
  • This option may be the difference between
    continuing at Western or being dismissed.
  • Each student receives 2 Withdrawal Privileges at
    the start of each academic year (Fall quarter).
