Title: SEPTEMBER
1SINGLE MARINE PROGRAM
SEPTEMBER OCTOBER NEWSLETTER
2Message from the smp manager
September/October Wow!! Its hard to believe
were getting close to the end of summer. Its
great to live on a tropical island, Im not sure
if summer ever really ends? Great job by all the
committees over the last couple of months, you
were able to round up a bunch of volunteers for
many different venues. You were also able to
push a lot of Marines and Sailors out on trips
and tours and more importantly no one found
themselves in trouble. Good job on taking care
of each other. Keep up the energy and stay
motivated! Look for the upcoming trips over the
next few months and plan accordingly. Keep in
mind your antiterrorism force protection
standards. If you plan on going to Thailand, you
need to have this accomplished 45 days in
advance. Also, you need to have leave papers or
permissive TAD papers before I can lock you in,
and remember, the further out I buy the tickets
the cheaper it is for you. So get things done in
a timely manner. If you need more information on
any of the upcoming events please call the office
645-3681. During the next few months I need your
help getting the word out and fueling the
competitive spirit between Marines, the different
units and the different bases. In December we
will find out who truly has the warrior spirit.
Is calling yourselves warriors just talk, or is
it really a way of life?? Well, well find out
when we roll out the first annual Bushido
Challenge, translation-The Way of The Warrior.
The challenge will consist of four events. The
Marine Corps PFT, Combat Fitness Test (CFT), the
Obstacle Course X3, and a Lap Swim. All events
are timed and the first event begins at 0600,
final event goes at 1500 that same day. There
will be three categories consisting of four team
members, a mixed team, all male team and a female
team. Signups will begin mid Oct, so start
training and standby for more info. Iwo trip is
scheduled for October 20-22, start getting your
gear ready and get the leave papers signed and
turned into the SMP office. I have room for 120
PAXs so hurry up and get locked in! I look
forward to seeing you there. Well, thats all
for now, but stay in touch with the program and
keep doing what you do to stay involved.
Remember who you are and what you represent. Do
the right thing and take care of one
another. Semper-Fi Randy Mitchell
