4Required Comments What should the denominator
be for the cost per cookie calculation? The cost
per cookie calculation is self-explanatory. The
numerator is the total cost of producing the
cookies and the denominator should be the total
sellable-cookies produced. What measures would
your group use to effectively evaluate production
performance? There are many ways of measuring the
performance of the cookie production. The most
logical would be to compute per hour of
production of the sellable-cookies. This gives a
ratio that can be compared to past and future
cookie production. This would give management
the required tools to make decisions about
possible changes in production. The total number
of sellable-cookies can also be compared to the
input of raw ingredients to see how efficient the
production is. What measures were unnecessary?
Why? To a degree, all measurements are considered
useful. Measurements provide standards for
comparisons of performance and efficiency. They
also allow management to repeat tests and
processes accurately to ensure consistent quality
and efficiency.
