• Must be low-income
• What constitutes low-income varies by state and
  group
• Typically covers the following groups

State Childrens Health Insurance Program (SCHIP)

• Created in conjunction with the Balanced Budget
  Act of 1997
• Gives each state permission to offer health
  insurance for children, up to age 19
• Each state sets its own guidelines regarding
  eligibility and services
• In CA its called Healthy Families

• Healthy Families
• Children and adolescents
• Must meet federal income guidelines which are
  based on children's ages and number of children
  in family
• Cant qualify for Medi-Cal
• Cant have access to employer insurance
• Cant be an undocumented immigrant
