2Mission/Vision Statements
Mission To develop, demonstrate, and validate
architecture models and assessment methodologies
for Ford light-to-medium duty pickup trucks.
- Vision for Success
- Deliver a documented, validated simulation model
that can be used to optimize the design
architecture of light truck platforms. - Supply to Ford and AISI the results of a
preliminary set of parametric architecture
studies that identify and justify weight saving
opportunities.
3Architecture Group Phase I Tasks
- Perform a comprehensive architecture technology
review identify architecture opportunities - Develop and validate a comprehensive computer
architecture concept chassis/body model suitable
for the assessment of general architecture ideas - Specify an assessment methodology for use with
the architecture concept model
4Architecture Group Phase II Tasks
1. Modify the baseline concept model and use it
for specific architecture studies
- Cab to front-end structure attachment, welded
versus bolt-on assembly - Body-on-frame architecture versus unitized-body
architecture - Pick-up box in steel versus polymer composite
- Alternate frame configurations
- Ford-specified architecture study 1
- Ford-specified architecture study 2
2. Perform independent verification and
validation (IVV) of architecture-related
technical results from IMPACT external work groups
5Architecture Assessment Methodology
