Family
  • Julius Caesar was born in Rome on July 12-13 in
    100-101 B.C.
  • His father, Gaius Caesar, died when Julius was 16
    yrs. old
  • His mother, Aurelia, influenced him much in his
    life
  • Caesars family were patricians, but they were on
    the borderline
  • There werent many patricians at that time
  • He married Cornelia, the daughter of Lucius
    Cornelius Cinna, in 84 B.C.
  • Julia, Caesars daughter, married Pompey in 59
    B.C.
  • Julius won a battle in Gaul, but at the same time
    his daughter died

Accomplishments
  • He accomplished being an orator (public speaker),
    a writer, and an elected consul
  • He was appointed dictator, then dictator for 10
    years, then dictator for life
  • He was also appointed perfect of morals

We Remember
  • We remember Julius Caesar for many reasons. Some
    of these reasons are
  • He expanded most of the Roman Empire
  • He made new laws
  • He was successful in most battles
  • He helped the poor by lowering taxes.
  • He wrote many books
  • Caesars English is named after him because of
    his many writings

His Dealings in Rome
  • Julius Caesar conquered most of present day
    France, the British Isles, and Belgium between 58
    and 51 B.C.
  • Caesar tried to control the number of slaves and
    tried to increase jobs in Rome.

His Death
  • Julius Caesar walked into the Senate with his
    wifes words in mind. She had a dream that he
    would be killed today at the Senate.
    Unfortunately, she was right. Caesars best
    friend, Brutus, stabbed Caesar in the back on the
    floor of the Senate. Caesar said to Brutus, You
    too Brutus? After this a civil war broke out in
    Rome. Caesar died in 44 B.C.

  • Julius claimed to be a descendant from Venus, god
    of water
  • When he saved a fleet of ships, he became the
    butt of gossip that he persuaded the king
    (homosexual) to sleep with him
  • Caesar was captured by pirates, he said that hed
    kill them when he left, he did by cutting their
    throats because they treated him well to
    lesson the pain.
