    Championship played at Riviera
  • 20 years it existed as passive organization
  • No fundraising or governance
  • Provided Rules of Golf books and handicap indexes
    to junior golf organizations
  • Originally name Southern California Junior Golf
    Foundation
  • Minimal activity and minimal donations

20th Anniversary
  • SCGA Board decides to reenergize the SCGA
    Foundation
  • Creates SCGA Foundation Board of Directors
  • Initiates new seed funding through a 5-year
    pledge
  • Begins grant program (over 350,000 given in 5
    years)
  • Hires a managing director (2006)
  • Launches first fundraising golf tournament (2006)

25th Anniversary
  • New Strategic Plan and objectives
  • Exponential growth in the next 5 years
  • Completing the transition from passive (funding
    others) to active foundation (ownership of
    programs)
  • Becomes a cornerstone of the SCGA

Goals
  • Enhancing its grants program and increasing
    funding by 30 in 2008
  • Exploring new partnerships to further develop the
    opportunities for kids to learn the game and its
    inherent values
  • Implementing a new program that will provide
    affordable golf course and range access to youth
  • Developing new program curriculums that use the
    golf as a tool to provide educational
    opportunities for children
  • Preparing to launch a college scholarship program
    in the Fall of 2009
