  • 2004 Standard Catalog of World Coins Book Reviews
  • Amazon. Com Editorial Review Completely updated
and revised, this giant book covers world coins
from 1901 through early 2003. Prices are
provided for practically every coin of the 20th
and 21st century, plus photos of obverses and

and privy marks, over 48,000 coin photos, 4 ½
    star rating.
  • Review Centre Books at http//www.reviewcentre.co.
uk/ , This animal is good for pointing out many
coins that may be missed in smaller magazines and
at trade shows. It is a catalog, about the size
of a phone book, with so many coins that it will
make your head spin if you are not searching for
a particular theme. When I write reviews I look
for a stumper or two. Well this book passed. I
looked up the Wailbligen 100. Sure as shootn
there it was, and explanation and references to
    Porcelain coins.
  • Biology Books.net Unfortunately the so-called
Krause Mishlers bible or telephone book
hasnt changed much after so many years of
publication! It is NOT COMPLETE (many new coins
missing but also some older!) Be prudent with
given quotations, there is an error on the FRANCE
    10 Francs 1989 Montesquieu coin.

Intended Purpose This reference book is
guaranteed to meet the requirements of amateur,
and professional coin collectors. Its a
comprehensive book with detailed, exhaustive
information about coins from all over the globe.
It is arranged so that a person with little more
than a passing background of world history and a
minor interest in coin collecting can use this
book easily and comfortably. The text is not high
tech, and the formats presented in the book are
not intimidating. This book actually promotes
more coin inquiry and fuels curiosity about
coins! High schools, colleges, public and
academic libraries should have this reference
book available. Additional Purposes Wonderful
for investigating coins from a specific place,
excellent for fiction writers, researchers,
counterfeiters, law enforcement agencies, movie
makers, immigrants to other countries that want
to lean the monetary value of their new country,
travelers and those wanting to know foreign
exchange rates, and trivia buffs. Personal
Impression I enjoyed going through this book!
Im novice coin collector. The new U.S. quarter
coins have a many people newly hooked on
collecting them. It is a fascinating book to me
because coins are a form of permanent historical
art works, they are the remnants and survivors of
the lifetimes of many, many, many generations of
people. Coins are a symbol of the progress and
endurance of humanity.
12
Reference Question What are the grading
valuations for coins? Coin grading valuations are
1. overall wear and 2. loss of design detail,
such as strands of hair, feathers on eagles, ears
on facial profiles, designs on coats of arms,
etc. The age, rarity or type of coin should not
be a consideration in grading. Coin Grading
Categories Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) no visible
signs of wear or handling under a 30-power
microscope, full mint luster present. Uncirculated
(Unc.) no visible signs of wear or handling,
even under a 30-power microscope. Almost
Uncirculated (AU) all detail is visible, there is
wear on only the highest point of the coin, and
often there is half or more of the original mint
luster present. Extremely Fine (XF or EF) About
95 of the original detail visible. Very Fine
(VF) About 75 of the original detail
visible. Fine (F) About 50 of the original
detail visible. Very Good (VG) About 25 of the
original detail available. Good (G) coins design
will be clearly outlined, but have substantial
wear
