GEOGRAPHY
  • China is the worlds largest country in
    population and the third largest in area.
  • China is roughly the size of the United States,
    has very little farming land, but has an enormous
    population.
  • China has very few trees and its mountains
    crisscross in all directions.
  • China has four of Asias greatest rivers the
    Yellow, Yangtze (Chang Jiang), Meking and Salween
    Rivers.

CLIMATE
  • Climate in China varies greatly from area to
    area, but in general the north has hot summers,
    cold winters, and low rainfall in the summer
    months.
  • In the south, however, China has mild winters and
    heavy rainfall.
  • China is a land where natural disasters, such as
    floods, droughts, and earthquakes, are common.

FOOD
  • A Chinese meal consists of some kind of rice,
    steamed bread, noodles, pancakes, (gruel a thin
    cereal made from oats), with dishes of meat and
    vegetables.
  • Because of scarcity of farming land, most Chinese
    dont have beef with their meals they usually
    are able to raise animals for food that dont
    require much space, such as chickens, ducks,
    pigs, or goats.
  • The way Chinese saves fuel. Stir-frying is most
    common.

Family and Culture
  • The family has been the single most important
    unit in Chinese society since ancient times.
  • Chinese households ideally are made up of several
    generations living together.
  • Chinese people celebrate festivals based on the
    agricultural cycle. The Chinese New Year comes
    at the beginning of this cycle, around the first
    part of February. This is the most important
    holiday of the entire year.
