11Consensus of Meeting
- We will proceed with the general plan as outlined
in our - meeting this presentation.
12 Provosts Directives
Each college will have the latitude to develop
programs that best advance their own initiatives,
keeping an eye on how we can take advantage of
University-wide SYNERGY centers and thus
coordinate and optimize the use of collective
resources. Each college and school will appoint
a representative to the Provosts Cross-College
Council on International Study to work with the
Vice Provost and the directors of C-GEO and the
International office. The colleges and schools
will work closely with C-GEO and the
International Office in developing academic
programs.
13One next step The Maymester
The Provost will provide summer salary support
for a balanced set of Maymester Abroad
offerings, including study abroad opportunities
for freshmen, sophomores, juniors and
seniors. We will utilize forum seminars as
well as other creative mechanisms to
facilitate these programs. Faculty members
offering Maymester Abroad courses will be
involved in the seminar/activities to prepare
students for their Maymester experience and will
receive 6-week summer salary for the course they
offer during the Maymester.
14Provosts Directives (contd)
- We will keep an eye on how we can best use the
- Maymester to encourage students (e.g.,
architects, - engineers) otherwise tightly constrained by
the demands - of their major.
- We will work toward developing an off-campus
market - for our programs.
- We will work with student government and senate
of - college councils to encourage an expansion of
the - student fee dedicated to international
programs. - We will develop ways that international
students on - campus can be involved in preparing students
planning - to study abroad.
