Three Economic Regions

• Mexico has three regions of economic activity
  based on physical features, climate, and annual
  rainfall
• Northern
• Central
• Southern

Nothern Economic Region

• Dry, rocky soil
• Cotton, Fruits, Grains, Vegetables are grown with
  irrigation
• Vaqueros herd cattle
• Produce Steel and Cement
• Maquiladoras- factories that assemble parts made
  in other Countries.

Central Economic Region

• Temperatures are mild
• Fertile soil created by volcanic eruptions
• Coffee, Corn, Citrus fruit grow In rich volcanic
  soil
• Large industrial cities like Mexico City and
  Guadalajara

Southern Economic Region

• Poorest economic Region
• In poor mountain soil, subsistence farmers grow
  enough food to feed their families
• In rich soil of coastal areas cash crops like
  sugarcane and bananas are grown on plantations

• IN the United states we enjoy foods grown in
  Mexico like Coffee, Corn, Citrus fruit,
  Sugarcane, and Bananas
• Wear Clothing Assembled in Maquiladoras
