  • HOURS 730 AM to 300 PM

ACCESS TO THE LIBRARY
  • Before and After School No Pass Needed
  • During Lunch No Pass Needed
  • From Class Teacher permission with signed pass
  • Remember to Sign-In on the clipboard on front
    counter as you enter the library
  • Backpacks are to be left under the front table-
    please do not block walk / Exit area

Lunchtime in the Library
  • After eating lunch, come to your library and
    play checkers, chess or other board games-NO
    Computer Games.
  • Read, rest, visit quietly or sit quietly and use
    this area as a safe haven or sanctuary.

LIBRARY EXPECTATIONS
  • Please enter and leave the library quietly.
  • Please have a signed pass when not
    entering with your class.
  • Please respect the books and equipment.
  • Do not disturb other students work.
  • Please no food or drinks in the library.

CHECK-OUT PROCEDURES
  • Picture ID need for ALL check-out materials.
  • Two week check-out for up to three books at a
    time.
  • Over-due books will incur a fine. Notices will
    be given.
  • YOU are responsible for returning your books OR
    paying for what is lost or damaged.

What is My Reading Level?
  • How do you determine whether a book is right for
    you?
  • 5-Finger Rule read any page. If you cant read
    the word or know the meaning, put down a finger.
    When you get all four fingers and your thumb
    down, that book is too hard for you. Pick
    another.

Use the Search Engines
  • To help you find the book you are looking for.
  • Search by Title, Author, Subject Matter Key Word
    or a Series such as
  • Alex Rider or Pendragon
  • Ask for HELP!
  • Mrs. Tuck is here for YOU!

Whats a good book to read?
  • Look to the recommendation notebook on the
    circulation desk.
  • Ask for help from other students or Mrs. Tuck.
  • Know your genresubject that interests you!
    Such as fantasy, horror, comedy, mystery,
    suspense.

REFERENCE MATERIALS
  • Dictionaries, Encyclopedias, Almanacs, Atlases,
    Indexes for different subject areas, Handbooks,
    Time Tables, Guides and Companions (to novels,
    films, literature, history)
  • Primary and Secondary Sources
  • On-Line Resources - Pro-Quest (journals,
    magazines articles), Links to County Library
    sources
  • Hardcopy information on Time, Newsweek and US
    News and World Report (over 5 years worth of
    magazines!)
