College and Career Readiness
  • Many high school graduates do not have all of
    the skills they need to succeed in college-level
    coursework or workforce training. Research
    indicates that the skills required for workforce
    training beyond high school are the same as those
    expected of a first-year college student. In
    addition, an estimated 85 percent of all jobs are
    now classified as "skilled," meaning that they
    require some education beyond high school.

    major skill areas
  • core academic skills and the ability to apply
    those skills to concrete situations in order to
    function to function in the workplace and in
    routine daily activities
