Background

• At its formation on January 1, 2003, the San
  Diego County Regional Airport Authority assumed
  Airport Land Use Commission responsibilities and
  was legislatively mandated to update the Airport
  Land Use Compatibility Plans (ALUCPs) for all
  public-use and military airports in San Diego
  County.
• In March 2005, the first draft of the ALUCPs were
  released to airport operators, jurisdictions and
  interested stakeholders in the region.

Background

• At the June 6, 2005 Airport Authority Board
  Meeting, Airport Authority staff was directed to
  work with local jurisdictions and airport
  operators on a revised ALUCP completion schedule,
  and to return to the Board within 90 days with a
  new adoption timeline for all ALUCPs in San Diego
  County.
• After working with local jurisdictions and
  airport operators during the months of June, July
  and August, staff has been successful in revising
  the timeline for the proposed adoption of
  specific ALUCPs by the Airport Land Use
  Commission.

Background

• At the September 12, 2005 Strategic Planning
  Committee Meeting, Airport Authority staff was
  directed to conduct an ALUCP public workshop for
  discussion of countywide policy issues and
  provide additional time for community stakeholder
  input.
