Background of the Study

• The resource center was established in 199 when
  the school of information sciences moved to the
  ultra modern Margaret Thatcher Library
  building. It currently uses a manual system.
• Statement of the problem
• The inaccurate recording of information on
  borrowers and materials.
• The inefficiency of the process of information
  acquisition, storage, searching, and retrieval.

Aim

• The aim of the study is to implement an automated
  system in the resource center.
• Objectives
• Analyze the current manual system in the resource
  center
• Identify problems of the current system
• Establish the need for a new system
• Find a solution to the need which is designing
  and developing an automated system in the
  resource center

• Questionnaires-to be administered to some of the
  information sciences students
• Interviews-to be carried out to the dean of the
  school and the head of departments
• Document analysis-reviewing other proposed
  projects
