Shutter

• Shutter- the shutter is the piece in the camera
  that blocks the film from all light. It does not
  move, exposing the film to light, until the
  shutter release is pressed. Exposure time is
  determined by shutter speed.

Shutter Speed

• Determines length of time the film is exposed.
• Numbers given in fractions of a second (bigger
  numbers mean less exposure time!)
• The shutter speed is set on the camera.

Aperture

• The aperture is like the pupil in the human eye.
• Controls the amount of light entering the camera
  by restricting the size of the hole the light is
  coming into.
• The aperture is within the lens, not the camera.

• The larger the number, the smaller the opening
  which means less light is allowed into the camera
  to expose the film.

• Exposure is a combination of both shutter speed
  and aperture. These combinations can have
  dramatic affects on the final result of the
  photograph.
