Ethnography Writing

• Is a method of inquiry into a particular
  culture/group that exposes how things function
  within that society
• Requires that you expand your understanding of
  people, certain cultures/group environment,
  within a certain social context

Features of the Ethnographic Essay

• Focus on people/groups of people
• Conduct close observations/interviews
• Most of the research will take place in natural
  settings
• Examine small components of research to formulate
  a bigger picture
• View the world based on the study subject

Selecting a topic

• The people/culture is accessible to you.
• The people/culture interest you in some way.
• The people/culture lend itself to research
  utilizing library /on-line.
• Important You can not be a member of this
  group/culture!
