Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate for the position will have
  • An earned doctorate from a regionally accredited
    university (consideration may be given to
    exceptional candidates currently pursuing a
    doctorate).
  • Five years upper level college administrative
    experience with community college experience
    preferred.
  • Experience working directly with college
    students, with college classroom teaching
    experience preferred.

  • An understanding of, the commitment to, and the
    ability to articulate the role, philosophy, and
    mission of a comprehensive community college.

  • A commitment to quality learning experiences for
    students.
  • A proven record of successful experience in

    support a significantly diverse student body,
    staff, community, and service area.

    local, state, and federal agencies.

    nominations and expressions of interest for the
    position of President. Nominations and
    applications will be accepted until the position
    is filled. However to ensure full consideration,

About Temple College
  • Founded in 1926, Temple College (TC) is one of
    the oldest public community colleges in Texas. It
    was originally located in the basement of Temple
    High School, and enrolled less than one hundred
    students. Today, TC is located on a modern 106
    acre campus, with off-site centers in Taylor,
    Cameron, and downtown Temple. Enrollment for the
    Spring 2008 semester was 4,787 credit students.
  • Always known for its excellent faculty and
    general academic programs, TC has also gained a
    statewide reputation for its programs in the
    Health Professions and the Fine Arts, as well as
    for its numerous credit and non-credit programs
    addressing the training and educational needs of
    business and industry. TC is well known for
    establishing community partnerships.
  • TC is part of the newly organized Temple Medical
    Education District. The TC Texas Bioscience
    Institute was recognized by receiving the
    prestigious 2007 Bellwether award.
  • In response to enrollment growth of more than
    65 since Fall 1995, TC has substantially
    improved its facilities and infrastructure
    through capital expenditures totaling more than
    30 million.

About The Temple Area
  • Temple College is located in Temple, Texas, a
    city of approximately 60,000 ideally located in
    the heart of the Lone Star State. Strategically
    located on the I-35 corridor between Dallas and
    Austin and less than 30 miles from Fort Hood, the
    free worlds largest military installation.
    Temple and Bell County have a strong economy with

    more than 325,000 in the Temple-Killeen MSA.

  • Temple is nationally recognized as a medical and
    research center as home to six major entities in
    medical health and research that employ more than
    12,000 physicians, researchers, technicians and
    staff. These include Scott and White Medical
    Center and Hospital, Texas AM University Health
    Science Center/College of Medicine, Texas AM
    University Blackland Research Center, Central
    Texas Veterans Health Care System Medical
    Complex, Cardiovascular Research Institute, and
    Kings Daughters Hospital and Kings Daughters
    Clinics.
  • There are nine colleges and universities within
    40 miles of Temple. Temple College is a strong
    partner in higher education with neighboring
    Texas AM University Health Science Center and
    College of Medicine in Temple, University of Mary
    Hardin Baylor in Belton, Tarleton State
    University Central Texas in Killeen, Central
    Texas College in Killeen, McLennan Community
    College in Waco and Texas State Technical College
    in Waco. Temple is within easy driving distance
    from several major universities including Baylor
    University in Waco, Southwestern University in
    Georgetown, Texas AM University in College
