Important Vocabulary

Womens Kimono
  • The womens kimono is a unique way of dressing
in Japan. It goes back to the Nara period over
1,000 years ago. The purpose of a kimono was to
be able to wear a piece of art.

4
Rock Gardens
  • These rock gardens are considered an art in
Japan they are still used today. Sometimes it
takes years to find a rocks to use in these
gardens. They are gently raked into a design and
then the rocks are placed. They are used for
    meditation and relaxation.

5
Tea Ceremonies
  • The tea ceremony came from China. It is a
ceremony where you can relax by drinking some hot
green tea. It was influenced by the Zen Buddhism.
The tea house is usually surrounded with a
Japanese garden. They also drink the tea with
    sweets.

many different ways like in Nigiri, Gunkan,

sports in all of Japan. It is a traditional

Is Japan a copycat (adopter) of Chinese culture
or does it have its own unique culture?
  • My decision is that Japan has its
own unique culture . Japan has its own culture
that include many things as sports,
religion, clothing, and food. The main religion in
Japan is the teachings of Shinto. It was
predicted to be established around 300 before
JC-300 and later arrived to Korea. Another
example of Japanese culture is a kimono. Both man
and women can wear it and is made with cotton and
other fine material. It is considered an art and
very popular it was worn back to 1,000 years ago
    in the Nara period.
