Background

• Jimmy Choo is a London-based luxury fashion
  designer who specializes in hand made womens
  shoes.
• He made his first shoe when he was 11 years old.
• He first had a workshop in Hackney, East London
  which opened in 1986, and Princess Diana helped
  boost his image from 1990 onwards.
• In 1996, he co-founded Jimmy Choo Ltd with
  British Vogue accessories editor Tamara Mellon.
• In April 2001, Choo sold his 50 stake in the
  company for 10 million. He has since been
  concentrating his work on the exclusive Jimmy
  Choo Couture line produced under license from
  Jimmy Choo Ltd.

• Jimmy Choos are manufactured in Italy.
• All Jimmy Choo Couture shoes are hand-made, his
  unrivalled craftsmanship is demonstrated with
  obsessive attention to detail. Jimmy Choo Couture
  Shoes compliment the very finest designer
  clothing.
• Choo favors crystalline colors, aqua, fuchsia,
  and bright orange and applies them to luxury
  fabrics like silk satin and shantung. Python and
  fish skin are some of his favorite materials
  because of the way they accept dye, and mink and
  feathers grace some of his styles. He has used a
  wide variety of stones, from Swarovski crystals
  to natural crystals for their healing power. His
  stiletto heels have been described as "dainty and
  deadly." Choo's philosophy is that shoes can be
  both beautiful and comfortable, and his devotees
  prove the point by their nearly fanatical
  devotion to his footwear.
• Though not custom-made, the Jimmy Choo line is
  all fabricated in Italy with an eye toward top
  quality. The collections are shown twice a year
  to coincide with the designer fashion shows in
  Paris, Milan, London, and New York. The company
  also offers men's shoes, handbags, and small
  leather goods. Choo has freestanding stores in
  London, New York, Las Vegas, and Beverly Hills
  and is carried in luxury retailers such as Neiman
  Marcus, Liberty of London, Bergdorf Goodman, and
  Harrods.

How theyre made

• Each individual Jimmy Choo is hand made in Italy
  and is then distributed across the world.
• They cut out the leather pieces according to the
  size of the shoe they wanted and then they sew
  the pieces together. Small nails or pegs were
  used to fasten the sole to the uppers. And the
  early shoes didn't have a left and right to them,
  they were the same for both feet.
