  • Union catalogue database (collection database) of

HELKA card/ UniCard
  • UniCard can be used as a library card ? must be
    registered at a library
  • Material can be checked out from Helsinki
    University Library, Undergraduate Library,
    faculty libraries, and from some institutions
  • Changes of name or address, or loss of card must
    be reported to any HELKA-library
  • Keep your card with you at all times, no loans
    are given without the card!

How to apply?
  • Id-number compatible with Finnish system is
    needed (e. g. 010182-012C)
  • Fill in an application form for HELKA card in a
    HELKA library
  • Or apply for a UniCard at Central Office of HYY
    (HYY The Student Union)Mannerheimintie 5 A 2,

  • Show a printed document to verify your Finnish
    id-number

Borrowing and Returns
  • Borrowing and returning at the Undergraduate
    Library is automated
  • Return the material to the same library from
    where it was checked out
  • Fines start to accrue on the date following the
    due date
  • Fines and lending blocks apply in all the HELKA
    libraries

Renewals and reservations
  • Renewals general collection 50 times, textbooks
    12 times
  • You can reserve a book if all copies of the title
    are on loan. The reservation fee is 1 euro.
  • Renewals and reservations are possible in the
    libraries, via their service phones, or as
    self-service on the Internet
