1. Information about the project
History, development and production
  • The development began in 1980.
  • There were 50 orders in the year 2000.
  • The first prototype was presented to the public
    on January 18th 2005.
  • Another exemplar was built only for long-run
    tests, investigations and experimentation.These
    tests will last until 2008.
  • Airbus planned to hand out the first airliners to
    "Singapore Airlines" in December 2006.But
because of a delay in delivery Airbus couldn't
keep the appointment of December 2006.The new
    deadline will be October 2007.
  • Munich is the first European airport which is
allowed to handle the new super Airbus.
  • On October 29th in 2005, the first tests of
    dispatch (Abfertigung) began in Frankfurt.
  • The First Flight took part in Toulouse on April
    27th in 2005.

1. Information about the project
Who constructs which part?
The locations of production
Varel (D) and St. Nazaire (F) The fuselage
(Rumpf)
Stade (D) The rudder (Seitenleitwerk)
Toulouse (F) and Hamburg The fly-by-wire-system
and the avionics(Flugsteuerung)
Getafe (GB) The elevator (Höhenleitwerk)
Broughton (GB) The wings (Flügel)
  • The several parts are transported by ship, heavy
load or by an aircraft like the "Beluga".
  • All components are assembled in Toulouse, from
where the airliner will be sold.

The Beluga, a means of transportation for an
aircraft.

1. Information about the project
The different versions of the A380-800
  • Current versions
  • A version for passengers (A380-800)
  • A version for cargo (A380-800F)

1. Information about the project
Important facts and figures about the project
  • Airbus employs 500.000 people.
  • The A380 costs 281 million Euro.
  • Airbus took a bank loan of 3,2 billions for the
    project.
  • The development expensed 15 billions.
  • The standard version has two cabins with 555
    seats.
  • 10 passengers are able to sit in one row.
  • The Airbus is able to fly up to 15.000 km
    non-stop.

1. Information about the project
The problems
  • Many tests which the super Airbus has to pass are
very complicated. For example, the Airbus has to
    pass a test of evacuation.
  • There appeared massive technical problems during
the tests which caused the delay in delivery and
by this, they led Airbus into crisis.
  • Airbus has to pay huge amounts of regulations to
the airlines for the delay in delivery.
  • The last client for the cargo version, UPS, plans
to cancel the orders.Consequently the cargo
project might be in danger and cause serious
    financial damage for Airbus.
  • All airports, where the Airbus approaches have to
    be prepared very well.
  • Is an aircraft of that scale still lucrative in a
period in which fewer people can afford to travel
"first class" to the holiday destination?

2. The location of production - Toulouse
First flight on April 27th in 2005
  • The security in Toulouse was very important
  • The airspace was controlled by the army
  • Only the six special test pilots had the
permission to fly for the first time
  • No grave error in the technical system of the
    aircraft occurred
  • There were many enthusiastic spectators, and the
whole world had an eye on Toulouse
  • Toulouse has become initiator of a technical
    revolution

4. Another vast project The Airbus A380 as a
model
A project by Peter Michel
  • Peter Michel realized his life-task to create the
    model of the Airbus A-380.
  • He is very famous because he participates air
    shows all over the world
  • For his model of the A380 he got the original
plans directly from Airbus. Then he chose the
scale 115 and began a long work of
reconstructing every detail from the original
    plane.

4. Another vast project The Airbus A380 as a
model
A project by Peter Michel
  • After more than one year of work and an
investment of 75.000 for the material, he had
    realized a plane with a length of 4,7m, a
wingspan of 5,40m and a weight of 75kg with 4
turbine engines that create a thrust of 70kg, 22
wheels, 8 wheel breaks and 41 servos.

4. Another vast project The Airbus A380 as a
model
A project by Peter Michel
  • His model had to pass the general registration
approval for aircrafts, but finally it got the
    license for general air vehicles.
  • He was sponsored by a Saudi-Arabian airline
  • A sheik offered Peter Michel 150.000 for his
plane, but he didn't sell it.

And now, I have to decelerate very fast,
otherwise the report will get too long. Thanks
