light. Basic understanding of both elements will
    be achieved.
  • The lesson is geared towards 2nd grade students.

State Objectives
  • SC.2.4.8 demonstrate that a magnet can

Lesson Plan
  • Day 1 The lesson will start out with a chart
about magnetism. We will also be going over some
    basic terminology.
  • Day 2 Today we will be working in small groups
with bar magnets. The children will be testing
    different items for magnetic force.
  • Day 3 The lesson will begin with an individual
project using the bar magnets. The rest of the
lesson will be completed on the computer
    exploring Bill Nyes website http//www.nyelabs.co

Lesson Plan
  • Day 4 Todays lesson will switch to light and
shadow. The students will do a simple experiment
    with a flashlight
  • Day 5 The last day of the lesson will be a good
review of the weeks lessons, followed by a
worksheet and the finishing of the chart from the
    first day of the lesson

8
Required Learner Participation
  • I plan on keeping the kids interested by doing
hands-on experiments, breaking them into small
groups to promote communication, and providing
fun activities, such as the day of going outside
    to the playground.
  • I believe these methods will keep the children
    interested and willing to learn.

9
Evaluation
  • The students will be evaluated on group work,
    individual assignments, homework, worksheets and
    participation.
  • Each assignment is relevant to the lesson plan.
The grades will be determined by a combination of
    written work, participation, and attentiveness
