Where To Teach Theories of Origins
  • Theories of origins better studied in philosophy
    classroom
  • Theory of evolution does not meet the criteria of
    the scientific method
  • It is derived from the philosophy of Naturalism

  • But it does seem to be increasingly clear that
evolution is not a science. Evidence continues to
accumulate that it is rather an anti-Christian,
anti-theistic way of thought, a system rather
than a science, a philosophy instead of a
    history
  • (Henry Morris, The Twilight of Evolution, p. 14)

9
Kinds of Evolutionary Theory
  • Atheistic eternity of matter
  • Agnostic first cause is unknown and unknowable
  • Theistic God started and used evolutionary
    process (biological and geological)

10
Biblical Teaching About Origins
  • Creation of heaven and earth in six days (Genesis
    1-2)
  • Instantaneous creation when God spoke God
saidand it was so (Psa. 336-9)

11
Biblical Teaching About Origins
  • Creation in span of six literal, consecutive,
sequential days (Ex. 208-11 Mk. 106)
  • The evening and the morning daily exchange of
    light and darkness literal day

12
Biblical Teaching About Origins
  • Four different kinds of flesh (1 Cor. 1539)
  • Can see the fingerprint of divine Creator (Psa.
    191 Rom. 120)
  • The blueprint is revealed (Gen. 1-2) do not have
to speculate or seek other theories

13
Consequences of Evolution
  • There is no God
  • Bible account of creation is myth
  • Scriptures not from God
  • Jesus not God and Savor
  • Man is only an animal
  • No sin or absolute moral standards

14
Serious Problems with Evolution
  • Presuppositions (facts assumed ahead of time not
    proven by any evidence)
  • Life from non-life (spontaneous generation)
  • Geological timescale
  • Dating techniques
  • Uniformitarianism
  • Tree of evolution

Serious Problems with Evolution
  • Evolution is only an interpretation of evidence
  • Does the evidence support this interpretation
or does the evidence support supernatural
    creation?
  • Why are not all views given a fair hearing in the
    search for truth?

  • Where do dinosaurs fit in the scheme of things?
  • General Theory of Evolution Dinosaurs lived from
245 BC to about 65 million BC
  • Based on certain presuppositions about the
    geological timescale, dating techniques,
    uniformitarianism, acceptance of human
    interpretation as fact, and anti-supernaturalism
  • Bible All creeping things were created on sixth
    day of creation (Gen. 124-25)
  • Includes dinosaurs and kangaroos (consider
behemoth and leviathan of Job 40-41)
  • Bible is not a biological textbook, but presents
a superior interpretational model of ancient
    history
  • Which will we believe? a constantly changing
interpretation of human wisdom that rejects the
super-natural outright or the testimony of the
Creator Himself, which explains the design and
    purpose of the universe?

25
Impact of Evolution on Modern Thought
  • Bad tree bears bad fruit (Matt. 717)
  • evolution has intruded itself into every area
of life. It has become the basic undergirding
philosophy of all the social sciences, the
humanities, and even the study of religion
itself, so that it is impossible to ignore its
implications (Henry Morris, The Twilight of
    Evolution, p. 17)

26
Impact of Evolution on Modern Thought
  • De-emphasize and eliminate religion and Creator
    no sin, soul, salvation, savior
  • Moral theory of survival of the fittest
    little respect for life
  • No basis for accountability, reason, purpose,
    morality, authority, hope

27
Voices of Confusion and Compromise
  • The days of creation cannot be literal (Shane
    Scott, Sentry Magazine, April 1995)
  • The data supporting the Big Bang Theory is the
Bible believers friend (Hill Roberts, Genesis
and the Time Thing, p. 18)

28
Voices of Confusion and Compromise
  • Reality is that multiple interpretations are
available for almost all Scriptures, including
the creation accountGenesis 1-2 must have a
symbolic or allegorical meaning (David Mathews,
Gibson-Mathews Discussion, 5-17-00, third set of
    emails)

29
  • EVOLUTON
  • VS
  • CREATION
  • The fool has said in his heart, There is no
    God (Psa. 141)
